. hey, everyone. good morning, welcome to "early start." i'm john berman. >> i'm zoraida sambolin. it is 5:00 a.m. in the east. up first, the tangled web that has insnared two of the country's top military women and two women who are not their wives. this morning we are learning much more about jill kelley, the tampa socialite at the heart of the investigations involving general david petraeus and john allen. first there were threatening e-mails sent from petraeus' writer paula broodwell. >> then he resigned as cia director. now john allen, top adviser in afghanistan, is being investigated for flirtatious e-mails he exchanged with kelley over a two-year period. >> kelley is pleading for privacy now even though she finds herself in the middle of a real-life soap and a here. we are hearing her voice now for the first time in a 911 call to tampa police, that was last weekend, she called to complain about the people outside her house citing diplomatic protection, which she doesn't have. listen to this. >> you know i don't know if by any chance, um, because i'm on in their council gene
through the building. >> let's go to john alston who is live. >> in the past few minutes all fire trucks left the scene. at the same time pg&e trucks are starting to pull up here at the scene. behind me you can see in the building still throughout san francisco city hall flashing lights from the fire alarm which are still going off more than an hour and a half after this call came in. now we have video that was shot a short time ago. you will see light smoke which filled the rotunda as well as the first floor. the fire department brought in fans for ventilation. an electrical panel in the basement blew up and exploded triggering a sprinkler system which then filled a portion of the basement of city hall with about an inch of water. at the time there was a reception going on for green build. that's a green trade show. those people were evacuated. >> we had an electrical explosion in the basement in the electrical room. pg&e just arrived. there was minimal smoke throughout the building. there was a high voltage area, so we can't get anybody inside there until we get the power cutoff. >> it

john kerry's name as a candidate for secretary of defense. i couldn't help but read that above the article in the washington post, he didn't get the job for secretary of state and somebody is trying to throw some sort of bob. people like john kerry are completely incapable of helping the pentagon deal with this problem, even that problem. led of the on the problem that is going to occur. the other candidates for leadership of the pentagon to be it through this era, a very smart -- no background in any of these issues. the other candidates is ashton carter. he is perceived as a good manager. if you look at his job on the f 35 i simply cannot agree. he is not picking on the fundamental efforts of problem represents. he let it float to the future and it is going to face a phase in this, even in the sequestered scenario, it will do nothing but increase the cost on airplane which is a disappointment in terms of performance and that is a result of his management. i don't see him as a competent candidate to lead the pentagon through this future, thank you very much. >> thank you, wins
